Datin Seri Wan Azizah and others summoned by polis

BREAKING NEWS
as reported here:

UPDATE 3.30 pm: Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim is apparently away in Abu Dhabi. He left early this morning. He has said that he will look into this harassment by the police when he is back.

Police this morning visited the homes of Datin Seri Wan Azizah, Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim, YB Azmin Ali and Yahya Saari over Black 14 gathering in Kampung Baru last night.

Notice was served them to be present at the Dang Wangi police station at 3.00 p.m. today to have their statements recorded.

If only the police were just as efficient in combating run-away crimes throughout the country. Also, they should not reduce themselves to be taking instructions but do their job without fear or favour.

20,000 came to celebrate with Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim and hear him speak

UPDATE
15 April, 10.40 am:
More pictures. Courtesy of TV Smith.

I was at the celebration at Kelab Sultan Sulaiman, Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur which was held this evening to mark the expiry of Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim's ban from public office, 10 years after he was sacked as Deputy Prime Minister.

Congratulations and best wishes Dato' Seri.

The crowd comprising of all groups of Malaysians was huge and eager. I get this feeling that they want to hear what their prime-minister-in-waiting has to say. My estimation of the crowd was that it was about 20,000 strong.

I don't think the main-stream media will report about this event in a major way. Even if they do, they will probably claim the crowd was about 200 or 2,000 (they somehow have this dirty habit of dropping or 'swallowing' their zeros ... I wonder why.)

Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also the de facto leader of Parti Keadilan Rakyat, spoke to the guests for more than an hour but what was most memorable was his affirmation that Pakatan Rakyat (a coalition of PKR, DAP and PAS) stands firmly in its belief for Ketuanan Rakyat.

He reiterated that there are poor and marginalised Malays as well as Chinese, Indians and others from the ethnic groups in Sabah and Sarawak. The welfare of the rakyat is paramount and Pakatan Rakyat will never forget this point. Pakatan Rakyat will serve the interests of the Malays as well as all other Malaysians. Race-based politics, he alluded, is also dead and gone.

I came away from the celebration with a happy feeling and is assured that Malaysia has a bright future. I am sure the rest of the crowd felt the same way.

I was also told that tonight's celebration also coincided with Raja Petra Kamarudin's 35th wedding anniversary celebration. My congratulations and best wishes also go to Raja Petra and his beloved wife. (Raja Petra Kamarudin is the founder of Malaysia Today blog.)

DBKL, stop harassing hawkers, petty traders, DBKL tenants and others!

(Terjemahan ada berikut di bawah -

JOINT PRESS RELEASE OF THE 10 OPPOSITION MPs IN KUALA LUMPUR

The 10 opposition Members of Parliament (namely Bandar Tun Razak, Batu, Cheras, Wangsa Maju, Kepong, Titiwangsa, Lembah Pantai, Bukit Bintang, Segambut and Seputeh) met last night (25-03-08) at Federal Hotel. The following resolutions were unanimously resolved:

We, the 10 opposition Members of Parliament in Kuala Lumpur, note that two months prior to the 12th General Elections (GE) DBKL was very relax in taking actions against the hawkers, petty traders, DBKL tenants and others.

We also note that immediately after the completion of the 12th GE, resulting in the clear rejection of BN by the KL residents, DBKL swung into actions to victimize and/or punish the hawkers, petty traders and threaten to victimize and/or punish the DBKL tenants in the opposition held constituencies, for the miserable performance of BN in the GE.

We strongly condemn DBKL for involving itself in politics and taking such concerted actions to victimize and/or punish the hawkers, petty traders and DBKL tenants for exercising their democratic rights in the 12th GE to elect the 10 opposition MPs from PKR, DAP and PAS in Kuala Lumpur.

We call upon the Datuk Bandar Kuala Lumpur to immediately stop the political actions in victimizing and/or punishing the hawkers, petty traders and DBKL tenants for exercising their democratic to elect the MPs of their choice.
